OCTOBER - RESPECT LIFE MONTH

ALL SOULS DAY, TUESDAY, NOV. 2: is a day when we especially remember our departed family and friends. As it is our custom, our parish will offer a first intention Mass each day during the month of November at 12:05 for all whose names are in the high altar. Starting today the donation envelopes are placed in the pews for your “special contributions.”

PARISH CENTER NEWS: Sign up your child/children of 0 to 12 yrs. old from October 17 to November 18 for The Christmas Toys and Grocery Distribution Program in our office. You could only sign up your children once.
-English classes are being offered every morning from 9 to 11 am. To enroll, please call the Office of Social Services.

GAY & LESBIAN MINISTRY NEWS: There will be a gathering this month for those interested in re-establishing the Ministry with Lesbians and Gays at the parish. For more information contact Tom Molettiere at 323-465-8558.

CARNIVAL MEETING: Our last Carnival 2004 meeting will be Tuesday, October 19 at 6:30 pm in the school auditorium. Everyone that plans on working the carnival must attend. Important information will be given regarding tickets procedures, shift hours, etc.

PARISH HISTORY BOOK: Find out more about the history of Blessed Sacrament, and the role the Church has played in Hollywood over the past century. Copies of our parish history are only $10 and are on sale after all Masses.

RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH: There are many ways for you to participate in the centennial celebration. One opportunity is to assist us with the restoration of our beautiful church. Here are some specific needs.
- All exterior lights on front of the Church: $35,000
- Maintaining the Church Organ: $15,000

CENTENNIAL T-SHIRTS: Show your pride in Blessed Sacrament! Special t-shirts commemorating the parish centennial are on sale in the parking lot.

PARISH CARNIVAL/INT’L FOOD FESTIVAL - OCTOBER 22, 23, 24:
- Our “SWEET BOOTH” at Blessed Sacrament always has a nice assortment of donated baked goods. Especially good sellers include: Rice Crispy bars, Brownies, Cookies, Pineapple upside down cakes, German chocolate cakes, Banana nut bread, Zucchini bread, All kinds of decorated cakes. Please sign up for your donations today as you exit the church or contact Mercedes Cortes at (323) 461-5712.
- Our “COUNTRY STORE” at Blessed Sacrament needs donations of food and paper goods. Below is a list of the items needed: Large Pack napkins, canned goods, rice/beans/pasta, paper towels, large fruit juices, cereal boxes, large box crackers, variety of canned soups. Please mark all bags the name of “COUNTRY STORE” and leave them at the church rectory.
- Entertainment: We have lots of entertainment for our 2004 Carnival. A vast variety of music - for all tastes!!! We have groups, soloists, dancers and many, many more attractions to be announced.
- Pre-ride tickets sale:Kemsley pre-sale ride tickets are available at the rectory office. One sheet of tickets is worth $12.00 and it contains 20 tickets . Save some money buying them now, during the Carnival, ride tickets will be $0.70 cents each.
- Carnival Raffle Tickets: Please return ticket stubs and money or/and any unsold raffle ticket to the rectory office as soon as possible. EVERY TICKET IS A POTENTIAL WINNER.
- Our “COLLECTOR’S GALLERIA” at Blessed Sacrament always has a nice assortment of old bibles, books, china, silverware, etc. Help, Help, Help!!!! We can only be successful if you help - please bring: Lamps, Pictures frames, Scarves, Needlepoint/embroidery, Mirrors, Crystal, JewelryAll kinds of collectibles. Please mark your donations “Collector’s Galleria”We need your help. Our Carnival is only a Big Success and we can do it - IF we all work together!

OCTUBRE - MES DEL RESPETO POR LA VIDA

DIA DE LOS DIFUNTOS, MARTES 2 NOVIEMBRE: Como todos los anos ofreceremos nuestras intenciones durante las Misas de las 12:05 durante todo el mes de Noviembre en favor de todos los nombres de los difuntos que se an anotado en el Libro de Memorias de las Almas que estara colocado al pie del altar.

REUNION DEL CARNAVAL: Este Martes 19 a las 6:30 pm en el auditorio de la escuela tendremos nuestra ultima reunion del Carnaval 2004. Es mandatoria para todos los coordinadores y voluntarios participantes. Informacion muy importante acerca de los horarios, boletos, etc. sera dada. Colocaremos los sobres para su “donacion especial” detras de los reclinatorios a partir de hoy.

CENTRO PASTORAL: Registre a su nino/s entre las edades de 0 a 12 anos desde el 17 de Octubre hasta el 18 de Noviembre para el programa de los juguetes de Navidad y las canastas Navidenas en nuestra oficina. Por favor asegurese que su hijo/s sean inscritos solamente una vez.
-Se estan ofreciendo clases de Ingles por las mananas de 9 a 11 am. Para inscribrise llmenos a la Oficina de Servicio Sociales.

MINISTERIO DE GAY & LESBIAN: Van a tener una reunion en este mes para todos los que esten interesados en re-establar este ministerio de Gay & Lesbian en la parroquia. Para mas informacion llamar a Tom Molettiere al 323-465-8558.

LIBRO COMMEMORATIVO DEL CENTENARIO: Informese sobre la historia de nuestra parroquia y del papel tan importante que ha desarrollado en Hollywood durante este centenario. Los libros estan a la venta despues de las Misas y en la oficina de la rectoria al precio de $10.00

RESTAURACION DE LA IGLESIA: Hay muchas maneras en las cuales Ud Puede participar en la celebracion del Centenario. Una oportunidad seria que nos ayude con la restauracion de nuestra bella Iglesia. Detalles especificos:
- Iluminacion de toda la fachada principal de la Iglesia: $35,000
- Mantenimiento del Organo: $15,000

CAMISETAS DEL CENTENARIO A LA VENTA: Demuestre lo orgulloso(a) que se siente por pertenecer a la Parroquia del Santisimo Sacramento adquiriendo una de las camisetas de nuestro centenario

CARNAVAL/FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE COMIDA Oct. 23, 24 y 25
- Nuestro KIOSKO DE LOS “DULCES” siempre tiene un gran surtido de pasteles y galletas que son donados para el Carnaval. Necesitamos de: Dulces de arroz, Pan Dulce, Galletas, Pineapple upside down cakes, German chocolate cakes, Banana nut bread/Pasteles dulces, Zucchini bread, etc. Anotense para traer sus donaciones al salir de la iglesia o llamar a Mercedes Cortes al (323) 461-5712.
- Nuestro Kiosko “LA TIENDECITA” de Blessed Sacrament necesita donaciones de comida enlatadas y/o en cajas. A continuacion detallamos lo que necesitamos: Servilletas, Comida enlatada, Arroz, frijoles y fideos, Toallas de papel, Jugos de frutas, Cajas de cereales, Galletas, Sopas en lata. Por favor marquen sus donaciones “COUNTRY STORE” y dejarlas en la rectoria.
- Entretenimiento: Tenemos una gran variedad musical. Se presentaran grupos, solistas y bailarines. Tendremos la presencia de Alicia Juarez; Carmen Jara; Gustavo Rivera, etc. No se pierdan todo este espectaculo y mucho mas!
- Boletos para los Juegos Mecanicos: Boletos para los juegos mecanicos del Carnaval estan a la venta en la rectoria. Cada hoja de 20 boletos vale $12.00. Ahorre comprandolos por anticipado, en el Carnaval cada boleto costara $0.70 centavos.
- Boletos de la Rida del Carnaval: Por favor devolver sus boletos vendidos y las contra senas con el dinero correspondiente a la oficina de la rectoria, o si tiene boletos que no ha podido vender hasta ahora, tambien devuelvalos, hay mucha gente que los puede comprar y/o vender. Gracias! CADA BOLETO ES UN GANADOR EN POTENCIA!!!
- Nuestro KIOSKO “GALERIA DE COLECCIONADORES” siempre tiene un gran surtido de libros y biblias antiguas, rosarios, etc. Necesitamos de: Lamparas, Espejos, Cuadros, Juegos de loza China, Objetos de Cristal, Joyas, Objetos de Plata, Colchas, Articulos hechos a mano, bordados, crochet, punto cruz. Por favor marquen sus donaciones para la “Galeria de Coleccionadores.”Necesitamos de su ayuda para que nuestro Festival Parroquial sea todo un exito y solo lo podremos lograr - SI - todos trabajamos juntos!
