HEALTH CABINET MINISTRY: will be presenting today a class on Cholesterol and its effect in our health. The class will take place in the St. Ignatius Room from 9 to 10am. People attending this class will be able to make an appointment for a follow-up Cholesterol and Glucose exam which will be offered at a later date in the parish center. The class on March 13th is FREE; the exam will cost $10.00. It is a pre-requisite to attend the class in order to be examined at a later date. For info call: Aura Martinez at (323) 969-8519.

SCHOOL NEWS: Blessed Sacrament School has received a letter from Southern California Children’s Scholarship Foundation informing that letters are being sent out to low-income families that they have been selected to qualify for a partial tuition scholarship for their child. Children must be entering K-5 grades in Sept. 2005. Depending on family income and size, these four-year scholarships will be worth 25,50 or 75% tuition. To qualify, parents must attend a meeting where they will hand out qualification kits. Meetings will be held at four different sites in Los Angeles. 2ND COLLECTION FOR THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH-OFFICE OF JUSTICE & PEACE: Today we have a 2nd Collection on behalf of the Universal Church. In more than 80 countries, Catholic Relief Services focuses on improving the lives of those in need by working with local communities and partners overseas. We cover the following areas: Agriculture, HIV/AIDS projects, Community Health, Education, Emergency response, Peace building, Village banking (Microfinance). Please be generous! Donation envelopes are found behind the pews.

CARNIVAL NEWS: There will be a Carnival meeting this Tuesday, March 15 at 7:30pm in the Parish Center. This is for the Raffle ticket committee and the People Power committee, and any or all who may be interested on those committees.

FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR OF REPOSE: Easter lilies…Calla lilies…will be welcome to embellish our church this Easter season. Flower Fund donations may be made by placing your contribution in one of the special “Easter Flower envelopes” found behind the pews. You can either drop it in the offering basket or take it to the rectory.

NOTICIAS DE LA ESCUELA: La Escuela del Santisimo Sacramento ha recibido una carta del de la Fundacion que Otorga becas para los Ninos del Sur de California informando que se estan enviando cartas a los padres de familia que han sido seleccionados para recibir becas parciales para la mensualidad escolar de su(s) hijo(s). El nino(a) debera entrar de Kinder al 5 ano de primaria en Septiembre del 2005 y dependiendo de los ingresos y del tamano de la familia las becas podrian ser del 25, 50 y hasta el 75% de la mensualidad escolar. Para calificar los padres tienen que asistir a una reunion de padres de familia en la cual les daran toda la informacion necesaria y formularios que llenar. Las reuniones se llevaran a cabo en cuatro localidades diferentes en Los Angeles. PROCESION DEL DOMINGO DE RAMOS: (Marzo 20) Comenzara a las 7:00am en la esquina de la Western & Hollywood Blvd para llegar al templo a la Misa de las 9:00am

LIRIOS PARA EL ALTAR DE REPOSO: Pueden dejar sus donativos en los sobres especiales “Flores para Pascua Florida” que se encuentran detras de las bancas. Este dinero servira para adornar nuestra Iglesia durante la Semana Santa.

MINISTERIO DE LA SALUD: El Ministerio de la Salud ofrecera una clase hoy en el Salon San Ignacio de 10:30 a 11:30am sobre el Colesterol y sus efectors daninos para la salud. Las personas que asistan a esta clase podran hacer cita para un examen del colesterol y glucosa que se proporcionara posteriormente dentro de unas semanas en el centro pastoral. La clase de Colesterol es GRATIS; el examen costara $10.00. Es requisito indispensable para hacerse el examen del Colesterol y Glucosa haber asistido a la clase previamente. VIACRUCIS EN LA IGLESIA: Todos los Viernes antes de la Misa de las 7:30pm. Los Lunes de Cuaresma: 3/21 a las 7:00pm; y los Lunes 3/14 a las 6:30pm en Ingles, lo mismo que los Viernes a las 11:30am.

AYUNO & ABSTINENCIA: Todos los Viernes de Cuaresma y el Viernes Santo son dias de abstinencia. Los dias de abstinencia no se come carne. Los dias de ayuno son: Miercoles de Ceniza y Viernes Santo.

DESARROLLO ESPIRITUAL CRISTIANO-INSTITUTO DE ESPIRITUALIDAD LOYOLA: El Padre Tacho Rivera, S.J. del Institulo de Espiritualidad Loyola estara predicando en las Misas en Espanol hoy 3/13 como parte de la serie de charlas sobre Discernimiento Espiritual que se han estado ofreciendo aqui en la parroquia.
El Padre Rivera dara un taller el Sabado 19 de Marzo de 9am a 6pm profundizando sobre su mensaje del 3/13. Todos estan invitados para asistir a este taller. Por favor llame a la rectoria para mas detalles.

Dear Rev. Mandala & Rev. Sebastian,
This comes especially to thank you and the Parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood for the thoughtful donation of US$5,225.00 towards the Tsunami relief work in India. We continue to give support, health care and rehabilitation to the affected people in Pondicherry and the surrounding region in Paragipettai near Cuddalore. Pondicherry Institute of Medicial Sciences is one of the few hospitals which were able to give a helping hand from the very first day of Tsunami. Dr. T.V. Mathew had been the head of the team of Psychologists who trained lot of school teachers to give support to the people affected with severe emotional trauma due to loss of life, property and living means.
You are one of the few churches in USA to have come forward to help us and I am on behalf of all our faculty, staff and students very grateful to the kind gesture. I also take this opportunity to invite you to our institution and we will be happy to provide local hospitality. I also wish and pray that this is the beginning of a long relationship to strengthen the bonds of love and care. I will be writing to you again regarding the report on the use of your valuable contribution.

El Dr. Thomas nos dice que esta institucion fue una de las primieras a socorrer a los sobrevivientes y victimas del Tsunami y que continuan haciendolo. El Dr. T.V. Mathew jefe del equipo de Psicologia inmediatamente entreno a profesores para dar apoyo emocional a las personas afectadas con severos traumas emocionales a causa de esta desgracia. Nos dicen que muy pocas iglesias en los Estados Unidos han respondido como la Iglesia del Santisimo Sacramento lo ha hecho y agradece fervientemente a los feligreses y sacerdotes este gesto tan grande. Desea que esta oportunidad sea el comienzo de una larga y duradera amistad para reforzar nuestros lazos de amor y carino por el projimo.
