TODAY IS RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SUNDAY: Today we are celebrate Religious Education Sunday. A representative from the Religious Education Program will share with us the work they carry out with the children, youth and adults of our parish. Today, we are taking a Second Collection on behalf of our Religious Education Program. Please be generous!

HURRICANE RELIEF UPDATE:
I am happy to inform you that up-to-this date we have remitted a check in the amount of $5,005.00 to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for the benefit of the people of the Gulf area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
I thank you each and all of you for the great compassion and solidarity shown. We will continue to welcome more donations, the hurricane relief box will continue to be by the altar. Please make checks out to Blessed Sacrament Church-in the memo line: Hurricane Relief.

PARISH CENTER NEWS: Following the disaster in London…..The Ambulance Service has launched a national “In case of Emergency (ICE)” campaign.
The idea is that you store the word “ICE” in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted “In Case of Emergency.”
In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly look at your mobile phone and find out who your first contact should be and be able to contact them. For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. it really could help the emergency services in doing their job. This is expected to become and international practice.

AIDS WALK LOS ANGELES: Help raise money for those living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. Join the Blessed Sacrament team for this year’s LA AIDS Walk. Register on-line at http://www.aidswalk.net/ Our parish team number is 5319.

MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND: We are trying to organize our Ministry to the sick and homebound so that all who are in need, will be served. To do this we need to know who is presently taking communion to them, in their homes or Hospitals etc: Together we are strong as we take the Body of Christ to those who need Him. Also, if you are interested in being trained to do this in our parish, or if you know of someone who would like to receive communion and is homebound, please contact:

CARNIVAL NEWS: The weekend of OCTOBER 21-23, 2005.
The Blessed Sacrament Carnival is the single, largest fundraising event we host each year. Each year we raise over $50,000. This money directly supports our parish, social services program and school. With over 50% of Blessed Sacrament School kids needing tuition assistance, the money we raise is vital to our parish mission of providing quality education and a rich social and cultural environment to Hollywood children.
These funds are also critical to the operation of our Social Services program. We operate one of few Hollywood centers that provide a place for homeless men and women to shower. We also provide hot meals, clothing, job-placement assistance, emergency rent and utility assistance, legal clinics and counseling. Without our Social Services Center many of the people we service would have no where to turn for help or for a chance at a better life.
How can our parish members help?
– Raffle Tickets. We mailed raffle tickets to our parish community 2 weeks ago. We hope you received yours and we sincerely hope that you will purchase the book of tickets. Not only will every dollar go towards our parish programs but you will have a shot at winning $5000 in cash; $2000 in cash; or a 20 in. television and DirecTV package. Plus for every book of tickets you purchase you receive one ticket free. If you didn’t receive tickets in the mail, you can purchase books in the rectory.
– Program Acknowledgements: You can purchase an acknowledgement ad ranging from $20 for a small ad to $100 for a full-page ad. These ads will appear in our Carnival program and will provide you with a great opportunity to promote your business. Families can also purchase ads to recognize the Carnival and pay special tribute to their loved ones. Ad forms can be picked up at the exits of the church.
– Donations: Cash donations are most certainly welcome and will go towards underwriting our activity booths. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation, you can bring a check to the rectory. Please indicate that the donation is for the Carnival.
We sincerely hope that our parish members are able to join us in our effort to maintain and improve on our programs and our mission. With so much at stake your support is imperative. Please help us continue giving to our community.

AYUDA DEL HURACAN

CENTRO PASTORAL: Despues del desastre en Londres… El Servicio de Ambulancias ha iniciado una campana Nacional en caso de una emergencia (ICE).
La idea es que Ud. entre la palabra “ICE” (In Case of Emergency) en la memoria de su telefono celular, seguido por el telefono de la persona que se debe contactar en caso de una emergencia.El personal de ambulancias y hospitales rápidamente pueden buscar en su telefono celular la persona o personas que deben ser notificadas.
Para mas de una persona puede colocar ICE1,ICE2,ICE3, etc. Esto puede facilitar el trabajo de las personas en los servicios de emergencia. Se espera que esta se convierta en una practica Internacional.

CAMINATA AIDS DE LOS ANGELES: Ayude a recaudar dinero en favor de las personas que viven con o que estan afectadas con el HIVy el SIDA. Unase al equipo de nuestra Iglesia que participara este ano en la Caminata AIDS de Los Angeles. MINISTERIO PARA LOS ENFERMOS Y PERSONAS QUE NO PUEDEN SALIR DE CASA: Estamos organizando un Ministerio para los enfermos y personas que no pueden salir de casa para que asi todos puedan ser servidos. Necesitamos saber quien esta actualmente recibiendo comunion en sus hogares y/o hospitales. Juntos nos hacemos mas fuertes si llevamos el Cuerpo de Cristo a aquellos que lo necesitan. El CARNAVAL DE LA PARROQUIA DEL SANTISIMO SACRAMENTO es el evento mas grande que patrocinamos cada ano. Cada ano recaudamos mas de $50,000.00. Este dinero ayuda directamente a nuestra parroquia, escuela y al programa de servicios sociales. Con mas del 50% de nuestros estudiantes de la escuela necesitando ayuda financiera para la colegiatura, el dinero que recaudamos es vital a nuestra mision parroquial en proveer una educacion de calidad, y un rico ambiente cultural y social para los ninos de Hollywood.
Estos fondos tambien son muy indispensables para la operacion de nuestro programa de Servicios Sociales. Somos unos de los pocos centros de Hollywood que provee un lugar para aseo personal para hombres y mujeres. Tambien les ofrecemos ropa, comida, asistencia en buscar empleo, asistencia de emergencia para alquiler y utilidades, clinica legal y consejeria. Sin nuestro Centro de Servicios Sociales mucha gente que ayudamos no tendria donde ir para recibir asistencia o una oportunidad para una vida mejor.
Como pueden ayudarnos?
– Boletos de la rifa: Hemos mandado por correo a todos los miembros de la parroquia los boletos de la rifa hace 2 semanas. Esperamos que los hayan recibido y nos apoyen comprandolos. No solamente estan contribuyendo con cada dolar en nuestros programas sino tambien tienen la oportunidad de ganarse uno de los premios como $5,000.00 en efectivo; $2,000.00 en efectivo; o una television de 20 pulgadas con un paquete de programacion satelite de DirectTV. Ademas por cada libro de boletos de rifa que Ud. compre recibira un boleto de rifa gratis.
– Auspicios: Ud. podria comprar un anuncio de $20.00 por un anuncio chico hasta $100.00 por un anuncio de una pagina entera. Estos anuncios apareceran en nuestro programa del Carnaval y es una buena manera de publicidad. Las familias tambien pueden comprar estos anuncios para ofrecer tributo a sus seres queridos. Los formularios para estos anuncios estan disponibles a las salidas de la Iglesia.
– Donaciones: Donaciones en efectivo son muy bienvenidas y se usaran para los puestos de actividades. Si estan interesados en hacer donaciones deducibles, pueden traer sus cheques a la rectoria. Por favor indique que su donacion es para el Carnaval.
Trabajando todos juntos como miembros de esta parroquia podemos esforzarnos en mantener y mejorar nuestros programas y cumplir nuestra mision. Su ayuda y apoyo continuo es imperativo para nuestra comunidad parroquial.
