Thank you to all who made Carnival 2005 a marvelous experience of fun, community, and church.
I want to thank all the hundreds of volunteers for all their hard work. I especially want to
thank Valerie Milano and all of the captains and heads of committees for their dedication, expertise, time and energy in making this carnival the best ever.

WELCOME FR. HERRY!
FR. B. Herry-Priyono, S.J. is an Indonesian Jesuit who has been teaching at the Jesuit university in Jakarta until coming to California. He is here for a year long spiritual renewal program (Tertianship). As part of his program he will be with us from October 30 to December 17. He will help with Mass and Confessions, and he will be principally working with the Social Services. Please welcome him warmly and introduce yourselves to him. Fr. Herry is eager to get to know the people of Blessed Sacrament.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN. KEEP HALLOWEEN SAFE FOR THE CHILDREN. SAFE COSTUMES!!! SAFE TREATS!!! Silly string is prohibited in Hollywood on Halloween, according to a city law passed last year. People are encouraged to have fun on Halloween, but leave the silly string at home. It is illegal to possess, use, sell or distribute silly string from 12:00 am Oct 31 through noon on Nov 1. Violations may be subject to a $1,000 fine.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY 2ND COLLECTION: Today, with Catholics of the world, we are called to this Eucharist celebration to offer our prayers and our generous financial support, through the Propagation of the Faith, to continue the mission of our Lord. Your gift on World Mission Sunday supports:
– mission priests who bring the love of Jesus to the poor living in remote villages and city barrios.
– Religious Sisters and Brothers who offer the Lord’s healing compassion to refugees, the sick and orphans.
– Catechists who proclaim the Gospel to the poorest of our human family, the message of the hope and peace that only Christ can give.
Today, World Mission Sunday, I ask your prayers for the work of the Church in the Missions - and encourage your generous financial help as well. May God bless you. Corresponding envelopes are found behind the pews.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1: is a feast of encouragement and challenge when we rejoice with the throng of Saints (Rev. 7) who have reached that supreme fulfillment and are a loving example to us. Special Holy Day of the Church. We will have our regular schedule of Masses: at 8:00am, and 12 noon both in English, and a 7:00pm Mass in English & Tagalog.

The Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles would like to invite everyone to the first annual “Todos Los Santos” Mass on Tuesday November 1 at 7:00PM here Blessed Sacrament Church.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2: is a day when we especially remember our departed family and friends. As it is our custom, our parish will offer a first intention Mass each day during the month of November at 12:05 for all whose names are in the high altar. Donation envelopes are placed in the pews for your “special contributions.” Schedule of Masses for Nov. 2: 8:00am & 12 noon Masses in English. 7:30pm Mass in Spanish.

REMEMBRANCE BOOK: Our parish “Remembrance Book,” for the names of our beloved deceased, will be available near the main altar. Please come and write the names of your deceased family and friends in the book. We shall pray for them at all our Masses during November

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Friday, November 4 is the 1st Friday of the month. Therefore, we will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:30am until 9:30am ending with a general Benediction.

SOCIAL SERVICES OFFICE - Survival Kits: Experts now recommend that disaster survivors be prepared to be self-sufficient for up to 7 days. Here is the list of supplies to have at home, in the car and at work.
– Home: nonperishable packaged or canned food, manual can opener, a gallon of water per person per day, first aid kit and handbook, clothing, rain gear and sturdy shoes, blankets and sleeping bags, portable radio and flashlight with spare batteries, essential medications, list of family physicians, list of medical devices, extra pair of eyeglasses, extra set of house and car keys, toiletries and toilet paper, fire extinguisher, small tool kit, pet food, leash or carrier,cash and small change paper plates and cups, heavy-duty aluminum foil paper, towels, knife or razor blades, 2 tarps 8 X10, hammer and nails, candles, matches in water proof container, work gloves and broom, cheesecloth (to strain water), large and small plastic bags, paper, pens and stamps, entertainment pack, water purification kit or liquid unscented bleach (8 drops per gallon). Quiero agradecer a los cientos de voluntarios por trabajar arduamente. En especial deseo agradecer a Valerie Milano, a los capitanes y coordinadores de los diferentes comites por su dedicacion, experiencia, tiempo y energia derrochada para lograr hacer de este carnaval el mejor de los mejores.

BIENVENIDO PADRE HERRY!
El Padre B. Herry-Priyono, S.J. es un sacerdote Jesuita originario de Indonesia quien ha estado ensenando en la Universidad de Jakarta hasta antes de venir a California. El pasara un ano por aca como parte de un programa de renovacion espiritual. Se quedara con nosotros del 30 de Octubre hasta el 17 de Diciembre. Nos ayudara con Misas y Confesiones, pero principalmente trabajara en la Oficina de Servicios Sociales. Demosle una calurosa bienvenida y presentense al Padre Herry, el esta ansioso por conocer a la gente de esta parroquia.

DOMINGO MUNDIAL DE LAS MISIONES 2DA COLLECTA: Hoy, con los catolicos del mundo, se nos llama a esta celebracion Eucaristica a ofrecer nuestras oraciones y nuestro generoso apoyo financiero, por medio de la Propagacion de la Fe, para continuar la mision de nuestro Senor. Su donacion en el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones apoya a:
– Sacerdotes de mision que llevan el amor de Jesus a los pobres que viven en aldeas remotas y en barrios de la ciudad
– Hermanas y Hermanos Religiosos que ofrecen la compasion curativa del Senor a refugiados, enfermos y huerfanos

MARTES, 1 DE NOVIEMBRE: Dia Especial de la Iglesia Fiesta Religiosa. Tendremos nuestro horario regular de Misas a las 8:00am & 12 del medio dia. Habra una Misa en Ingles y Tagalog a las 7:00pm.

El Ministerio Filipino de la Arquidiocesis de Los Angeles los invita a la primera Misa anual de “Todos los Santos” que se realizara en Martes 1 de Noviembre a las 7:00pm aqui en la Iglesia del Santisimo Sacramento.
