SECOND COLLECTION NATIONAL NEEDS COMBINED: Today, we have a Second Collection on behalf of the National Needs Combined that: Makes it possible for us to continue strengthening Catholic faith, values and education through The Catholic Communication Campaign’s television, radio, and print messages. Helps support some of the poorest dioceses in the country that depend on annual collections. Through vital evangelization programs, the Black and Indian Home Mission provides aid to some of the neediest African-American and Native American communities. Enables us to insure the highest standards of quality Catholic education through the Catholic University of America’s exceptional programs of scholarship, researd, and service. Strengthens the Church at home, and helps to provide basic pastoral resources and services to needy ethnic communities in scattered and isolated areas through the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Corresponding donation envelopes are found behind the pews. Thank you for making a difference! May the Lord bless you for your generosity.

TO BLESSED SACRAMENT COMMUNITY: On Saturday, August 4, the regular 6:00 PM Mass will be a special multi-cultural Mass which will be celebrated by Fr. Sebastian. After the Mass there will be a reception in the hall to thank Fr. Sebastian for his six years of service to Blessed Sacrament. All are invited.

L.A. VOICE: Congratulations to all who participated in the L. A. Voice Housing Forum last Monday night. More than 1,000 people elicited the support of our City Officials to do something about the Housing Crisis in Los Angeles. Now our job is to hold the officials to their commitments. Did You Know? Internet safety for kids
The Internet has become the new schoolyard for child molesters seeking girls or boys to victimize. Internet “chat rooms” provide a teenager an opportunity to engage in a “live” conversation with friends from school or church, or with other teenagers from around the world. A chat room is described as being similar to an old style telephone party line except that the teens are typing. Law enforcement has found that child molesters use chat rooms to gain easy and safe access to teens. Because of the caring and the seductive talent of child molesters, teenagers should be warned that when they are in a chat room, they should never provide anyone with private information, personal information, and especially their specific physical location. During the summer months, our parish choirs and instrumentalists take various, well-deserved rests and vacations. We encourage all of our parishioners and visiting guests to support our cantors and accompanists in singing during the Masses. All of our parish choirs and instrumentalists will return in the beginning of September.

WATCH YOUR POSTURE: Our posture is often a tip-off to our hospitality and reverence for the Lord. Note the actions of Abraham as he greeted the Lord in the presence of three men who appeared near his tent. He ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them. He bowed to the ground as he met them. He and Sarah, his wife, hastened to prepare a meal and bring food and water to their guests. In the Gospel story, Jesus’ friend Mary sat at his feet in order to listen to him speak. How do we welcome and reverence the Lord? What do our actions show? Do we remember the Lord’s presence in the Blessed
Sacrament? How do we welcome the Lord in the scripture readings? How do we acknowledge his presence in our brothers and sisters, both at Mass and afterwards? Whether we kneel, stand, or sit in the Lord’s presence, may our hearts and minds always be attuned to him. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

Ayuda económicamente a las diócesis en las áreas más pobres de nuestro país que dependen de colectas anuales. Por medio de programas de evangelización, la Misión para Afro-Americanos e Indígenas Americanas provee asistencia a estas comunidades. Ayuda a asegurar la mejor calidad de educación católica por medio de programas excepcionales de becas, investigación y servicio de la Universidad Católica de América. Fortalece la Iglesia doméstica y ayuda a proveer recursos y servicios pastorales básicos a las comunidades más necesitadas en áreas aisladas y esparcidas a través de la Solicitud pra las Misiones Católicas Domésticas. MINISTERIO DE LA SALUD: El Club de Leones Latinoamericano nos ha proporcionado un recipiente para recolectar anteojos (lentes). Si usted o alguién que usted conoce tiene anteojos que ya no los use o no le sirvan, favor de traerlos a la oficina de la rectoría para ser donados a otra persona que los pueda usar. Sabe Usted? Seguridad en el Internet para los Niños
El Internet se ha convertido en el nuevo jardín de juego para los molestadores que buscan a los niños y niñas para hacerlos sus victimas. Los “cuartos de charla” del Internet proveen a los jóvenes la oportunidad de participar en conversaciones en “vivo” con grupos de la escuela o de iglesias, o con otros adolescentes alrededor del mundo. Un cuarto de charla se describe como siendo similar a una vieja línea telefónica de fiesta con la excepción de que los adolescentes están escribiendo por medio de sus computadoras. Las autoridades han encontrado que los molestadores usan los cuartos de charla como acceso fácil a los adolescentes. Debido al talento seductivo de los molestadores de niños, los adolescentes deben ser advertidos que cuando estén en un cuarto de la charla, nunca deben proveer a cualquier persona sus datos privados, información personal, y especialmente su localización física. Durante los meses de verano, los miembros de nuestros coros e instrumentalistas toman unas bien merecidas vacaciones. Deseamos pedir a todos nuestros feligreses y personas que nos estén visitando que acompañen a nuestros cantantes e instrumentalistas cantando durante las Misas. CUIDA TU POSTURA: Nuestra postura es muchas veces un indicio de nuestra hospitalidad y reverencia por el Señor. Observa las acciones de Abraham cuando saludó al Señor en presencia de tres hombres que aparecieron cerca de su tienda. Corrió desde la entrada de la tienda a saludarlos. Se postró en tierra a su encuentro. Él y Sara, su esposa, se apresuraron a preparar una comida y llevarle alimento y agua a sus invitados. En el relato del Evangelio, María, la amiga de Jesús, se sentó a sus pies para escucharlo hablar. ¿Cómo le damos la bienvenida y reverenciamos al Señor? ¿Qué demuestran nuestras acciones? ¿Recordamos la presencia del Señor en el Santísimo Sacramento? ¿Cómo le damos la bienvenida al Señor en las lecturas de las Escrituras? ¿Cómo reconocemos su presencia en nuestros hermanos y hermanas, tanto en la misa como después?
