OCTOBER - RESPECT LIFE MONTH

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Next Friday, Oct. 5 is the 1st. Friday of the month and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 8:30am to 9:30am.

NO BAPTISMS ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21: Due to Carnival Weekend, there will be no baptisms on Sunday, October 21.

CHOIR NEWS: We are looking for talented, enthusiastic singers and instrumentalists throughout the month of September to join the Music Ministry. Potential music ministers must be dedicated, energetic, willing to learn, eager to experience God’s great love through music, and ready to have a great time! Interested English-speaking parishioners may choose to participate in either the 11:00am A Capella Choir (which rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7:30-9:30pm) or the 5:30pm Contemporary Ensemble (which rehearses on Sundays from 3:30-5:00pm). Contact Rodger Guerrero, Director of Pastoral Music, after either mass or call him at the numbers listed in the bulletin. A simple audition is required for both choirs. Previous experience is helpful but not necessary.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS: The Religious Education Dept. is taking a survey of their services so that they can improve the sacramental preparation being offered to the children, youth and adults of our parish. Please stop at the table they have outside the church after the Mass and fill out the questionnaire. Thank you!

RCIA - ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH? ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for adults seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.

SOCIAL SERVICES: The Law Office of Harris & Rivera, as part of its community education and outreach program, will present on October 13, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. the second one-hour Immigration information session. The session will be composed of a 30-35 minutes presentation on immigration laws that directly impact the community and the last 20-25 minutes will be devoted to accepting general questions from the audience. This will take place at the Social Service Center second floor Conference Room, free of charge.

TUTORING CLASSES IN ENGLISH: We are offering classes to remediate reading difficulties in English for children from kinder to the 8th grade level. BEREAVEMENT GROUP: All those who are feeling grief over the death of a loved one. Do not feel alone, Come and join our group, who have been and are, where you are. Come and share and talk with us, we
can help each other. I know there are others in our church who are grieving You do not need to be alone, join us, and help us. Do not sit at home in despair, come and join us we care. CARNIVAL NEWS Welcome to the Carnival section of Blessed Sacrament Parish’s bulletin. Hope you were able to join us last year, lots of fun and comraderie. We need your help to make the 2006 Blessed Sacrament Carnival a success!
The Carnival is our school and parish’s largest single fundraising event. The 2007 Carnival will be held October 19, 20, 21
There are many ways that you can participate and we welcome all suggestions for possible contributions.
RAFFLE TICKETS: PLEASE SELL/BUY THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE…IF YOU NEED MORE RAFFLE TICKETS COME TO THE RECTORY OFFICE, CALL US, OR GET THEM AFTER MASS ON SUNDAY. ALSO, RETURN THE MONEY AND TICKET STUBS TO THE RECTORY OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, DO NOT WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER.
Volunteer your time: To solicit for donations, planning and installing decorations, setting up before the weekend event, preparing food, running the game & raffle booths etc.
Contribute items: We encourage you to request donations from local businesses that you frequent, and to ask your friends and families if they can help us
Come to the party and enjoy: We will send you more information thru the bulletin as the weekend draws closer but don’t forget that your raffle ticket purchases is one very important way that you can help defray the costs of planning the carnival and make sure that as much money as possible goes directly to help the school and parish. We encourage you to invite your colleague’s friends, and families to join us for the weekend.
We are excited about the chance to top our fundraising records from previous years and we are looking forward to a terrific weekend with food, games, entertainment and friends. We would be thrilled for you to help us make the 2006 Carnival, Concert & International Cuisine our best yet.

The Megan’s Law website for California provides access to information on more than 63,000 persons required to register in California as sex offenders. Specific home addresses are displayed on more than 33,500 offenders in the California communities; as to these persons, the site displays the last registered address reported by the offender. An additional 30,500 offenders are included on the site with listing by ZIP Code, city, and county. Information on approximately 22,000 other offenders is not included on this site, but is known to law enforcement personnel. Not all sex offenders have been caught and convicted. NOTICIAS DEL CORO: Estamos buscando, durante todo el mes de Septiembre, personas de talento, cantantes entusiastas e instrumentalistas para que se unan al Ministerio de Música. Estas personas deben ser dedicadas, energéticas, con ganas de aprender, y estar ansiosos por experimentar el gran amor de Dios através de la música. Las pesonas interesadas pueden escoger de participar en cualquiera de nuestros coros hispanos: Coro Bíblico (ensayan los Sábados de 6 a 7pm) o en el Coro Hispano de la 1:00pm (que ensaya los Jueves de 6:30pm a 8:00pm). SERVICIOS SOCIALES: Las Oficinas Legales de Harris & Rivera como parte de su programa de educación comunitaria, presentará en Octubre 13, 2007,a las 10:00 am una segunda sesión de información sobre leyes de inmigración. Esta sesión incluirá una presentación sobre leyes de Inmigración que afectan directamente a la comunidad y será seguida por una sesión de 20 a 25 minutos de preguntas y respuestas. Este foro se llevará a cabo en el Centro de Servicios Sociales en el segundo piso, Salón de Conferencias. Esta asistencia es completamente gratuita.

NOTICIAS DE LA ESCUELA: Las matrículas para el año escolar 2007-08 todavía están abiertas. Las mensualidades escolares son bien razonables y cómodas.

EDUCACION RELIGIOSA: El programa de Educación Religiosa está haciendo una encuesta para mejorar los servicios que se ofrecen en la preparación sacramental para la comunidad, específicamente para los niños, jóvenes y adultos. MIRAR MÁS ALLÁ DE NOSOTROS MISMOS. El mensaje de las lecturas de hoy es una vieja historia. El Ciudadano Kane, Papi Warbucks y el Rey Midas son sólo unos pocos de los familiares personajes ficticios que pensaban que con una enorme fortuna podrían comprar la felicidad y la completa satisfacción. Papi Warbucks admite haber pisoteado a algunas personas en su ascenso a la cumbre. Kane trató de comprar la palabra impresa y el estrellato para su joven esposa, mientras que el Rey Midas conjura inmensa fortuna y tragedia sólo con su toque. Aprendemos claramente en las lecturas de hoy que nada de esto es posible. Alcanzamos la verdadera felicidad cuando nos interesamos en los demás. Cuando practicamos las virtudes que Dios describe a Timoteo: fe, amor, mansedumbre, piedad, rectitud y justicia. El Evangelio nos recuerda que no osemos ignorar las necesidades de los demás, actuando como si no notáramos su sufrimiento. El llamado de Dios a nosotros es demasiado claro para ignorarlo ni un solo día más.

CARNAVAL: Bienvenidos a la sección del Carnaval en nuestro boletín. Espero que Uds nos hayan acompañado el año pasado, cuando nos divertimos muchísimo en un ambiente de camadería. Necesitamos otra vez de su ayuda para hacer del Carnaval de este año todo un éxito.
