NATIONAL MIGRATION WEEK JANUARY 6-12, 2008

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY: “Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion”
Come participate in the Blessed Sacrament community as a member of the Eucharistic Ministry As a part of the Liturgy of the Mass you will be serving the community of Blessed Sacrament by assisting the priests in distributing the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ to your fellow parishioners. We are looking for more Eucharistic Ministers for all the English masses, especially for the Saturday 6:00pm and Sunday 5:30pm. PARISH NURSE NEWS: Starting in January the parish nurse office hours will be: from 9:00am until 12:30pm on Tuesdays, or by appointment.

THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM: The unfolding of the story of the Incarnation continues today as the Church celebrates the Epiphany. The tale of the magi from the East is one of the most fascinating in all of scripture. It has much to teach us about what we can come to expect, even in circumstances and places that may seem insignificant or small. Bethlehem was a tiny town, what we might refer to today as a town without even one stop light. Yet it is over this seemingly insignificant place that the guiding star stops in its own search for the place where the Savior would be born. Too often we fail to recognize the fact that the star of Bethlehem comes to rest in our everyday lives, where we can experience God’s presence, manifested in ever new ways. Did You Know? Office of Assistance Ministry assists victims
The Office of Victims Assistance Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles was created in April 2002 to deal with allegations of past or current sexual abuse by clergy, religious and any lay person working or volunteering for the archdiocese. The office was charged with creating a safe and compassionate environment for victims to come forward, while ensuring that civil authorities are notified and victims are provided counseling and other assistance in the healing process. The annual Religious Education Congress held in Anaheim, Calif., Congress draws in excess of 40,000 participants over the course of this internationally acclaimed four-day event. La Oficina del Ministerio de Ayuda de la Arquidiocesis de Los Angeles fue creada en abril de 2002 para tratar las alegaciones de abuso sexual del pasado o actuales del clero, religiosos y laicos trabajadores o voluntarios de la Arquidiocesis. La oficina fue responsable de crear un ambiente sano y comprensivo para las victimas, asegurase de que las autoridades civiles sean notificadas y que las victimas reciban ayuda consejera durante el proceso curativo. El Congreso anual de Educación Religiosa en Anaheim, Calif. El Congreso reúne a más de 40,000 participantes durante los cuatro días de este evento, el cual es reconocido internacionalmente y auspiciado por la Oficina de Educación Religiosa de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles. El Día anual de la Juventud reúne a 15,000 jóvenes del sur de California y otras partes. Dicho evento cuenta con la presencia de participantes provenientes de más de 14 países. Este año habrá más de 270 talleres a elegir, con temas e intereses que comprenden desde espiritualidad y desarrollo personal, hasta estudio bíblico, teología y catequesis. Esta vez el Congreso se llevará a cabo los días 28 de febrero (Jornada Juvenil) al 2 de marzo del 2008 con el tema “¡Alza tu Mirada … Vuelve a Mirar!”
