PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: Our next Parish Council meeting will take place on Saturday, January 19, at 8:45am in the Parish Center. All ministries representatives are welcome to attend and participate.

BLESSED SACRAMENT SCHOOL 2ND. COLLECTION SUNDAY: Today, at all the Masses, we are celebrating Blessed Sacrament School Day” A Second Collection will be taken up at all the Masses on behalf of our school and a school teacher and/or representative from the PTG will address the congregation on school issues. Please remember in your prayers our school faculty; lay employees; students; parents and the Jesuit priests who work so hard together to bring the best education and spiritual guidance to our children.

SCHOOL NEWS: Blessed Sacrament School is now accepting applications for the School Year 2008-2009. Scholarships of $1,000.00 are available for those who qualify. You can pick up your application in the school office from Monday though Friday from 8:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Phone 323 467-4177. Necessary document are W-2 forms for 2007 or a letter from your employer stating your salary. Due: No later than February 28, 2008.

Special Thanks to the Michel Corhan Memorial Creche Fund for its donation to purchase Christmas Trees during Christmas to help with our church decorations.”

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY: “Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion”
Come participate in the Blessed Sacrament community as a member of the Eucharistic Ministry. As a part of the Liturgy of the Mass you will be serving the community of Blessed Sacrament by assisting the priests in distributing the Sacred Body and
Blood of Christ to your fellow parishioners. We are looking for more Eucharistic Ministers
for all the English masses, especially for the Saturday 6:00pm and Sunday 5:30pm.

Genevieve & Elizabeth Pastor & J.W. Moore, Long-time parishioners and friends of Blessed Sacrament Church passed away last December. A Memorial Mass in thanksgiving for their life & service to the parish will be held on Saturday, January 19:
For the Pastor Sisters service at 11:30a.m.
For J.W. Moore service at 1:30p.m.
We also sadly announce that Mary Vaughn, our Long-time friend, parishioner & volunteer passed away on January 5, 2008.
Funeral Services are pending.

Did You Know? Spotting signs of unresolved childhood trauma
For the past three years, the Diocese of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has offered a Trauma Recovery Program or any adult Catholics who are survivors of childhood abuse and neglect. Depending on the definition used, 10-50 percent of children experience some form of trauma. Untreated childhood trauma affects an adult’s ability to be a healthy and productive member of society. The effects of trauma include injury to the mind and spirit as well as the physical body. Survivors of trauma commonly and consistently display recognizable predictable patterns of unhealthy behavior that can be changed and healed. Sabe Usted? Reconociendo las muestras de trauma de niñez no resulto
Los últimos tres años la Diocesis de Kalamazoo, Michigan, ha ofrecido un programa de Recuperación de Trauma para cualquier adulto Católico que sea sobreviviente de abuso y negligencia de la niñez. Dependiendo en la definición usada, 10-50 por ciento de los niños experimentan alguna cierta forma de trauma. El trauma de la niñez que no es atendido médicamente afecta la capacidad de un adulto a desarrollarse productivamente y sanamente en la sociedad. Los efectos del trauma incluyen lesiones mentales y espirituales, al igual que al cuerpo físicas. Sobrevivientes del trauma comúnmente y constantemente manifiestan hábitos de comportamiento insano, los cuales pueden ser cambiados y curados.
