EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRMENT: Our monthly day of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will be Friday, Feb. 1 from 8:30am until 9:30am.

TOGETHER IN MISSION 2008 COMMITMENT SUNDAY: This week, you are asked to make a commitment to the Together in Mission Annual Appeal. Together in Mission provides substantial financial support to 35 parishes and 48 schools in our Archdiocese. These parishes and schools provide education, ministry and a Catholic presence for tens of thousands of people.
Together in Mission provides an opportunity to show our concern for those served by the parishes and schools that need your financial support. Pledge forms can be deposited in the collection baskets or mail it back to us. Also, we will conduct our annual Together in Mission in-pew pledge follow up process at all Masses next weekend.
As always, what you give should be given in gratitude for what God has given to you. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.

SCHOOL NEWS: Blessed Sacrament School is now accepting applications for the School Year 2008-2009. Scholarships of $1,000.00 are available for those who qualify. You can pick up your application in the school office from Monday though Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Phone 323 467-4177. Necessary document are W-2 forms for 2007 or a letter from your employer stating your salary. Due: No later than February 28, 2008.

RESPECT LIFE SUPPORT: HELP IS NEEDED! Come to an informational meeting regarding the starting of a new crisis pregnancy counseling center in the Hollywood area. This center will be haven for the many young people suffering from the aftereffects of a life in the fast lane. This center will teach our young people to respect their lives. Come to help start the center!

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY: “Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion”
Come participate in the Blessed Sacrament community as a member of the Eucharistic Ministry.
As a part of the Liturgy of the Mass you will be serving the community of Blessed Sacrament by assisting the priests in distributing the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ to your fellow parishioners. We are looking for more Eucharistic Ministers for all the English masses, especially for the Saturday 6:00pm and Sunday 5:30pm. PARISH NURSE NEWS: Starting in January the parish nurse office hours will be: from 9:00am until 12:30pm on Tuesdays, or by appointment.

Did You Know? Abuse report finds drop in reported victims
The number of people who said they are victims of clergy child sex abuse has dropped 34 percent since 2004, according to a national survey of dioceses and religious orders. The survey was conducted by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University in conjunction with the 2006 Audit on U.S. Church Compliance with Child Protection Policies. The annual report on the survey and audit showed the same drop since 2004 in the number of credible allegations made and a 40 percent drop in the number of reported offenders. The report collected data on credible allegations and costs related to child sex abuse in 2006 and compared them to the figures gathered in 2004 and 2005. DOMINGO DEL COMPROMISO: Esta semana, se les pide que hagan un compromiso en favor de la Campaña Anual de Unidos en Misión. Unidos en Misión provee un apoyo económico muy importante a 35 parroquias y 48 escuelas parroquiales en nuestra Arquidiócesis. Estas parroquias y escuelas proporcionan educación, ministerios y una presencia católica para
decenas de miles de personas. Unidos en Misión da una oportunidad para mostrar nuestro interés por quienes reciben los servicios de las parroquias y escuelas que necesitan ayuda económica. Los sobres conteniendo sus compromisos los pueden depositar en la canasta de la ofrenda o también los pueden enviar por correo.
