A Time for Reflection
This week, you are asked to read and reflect upon the Together in Mission materials that you received today. Those of you who subscribe to the Archdiocesan newspaper, The Tidings, will receive more information about the campaign in this week’s edition.
Together in Mission provides substantial financial support to 35 parishes and 48 schools in our Archdiocese. These parishes and schools provide education, ministry and a Catholic presence for tens of thousands of people.
Sometimes it is difficult to envision how your pledge can help so many people. But, it does. To see how, please review the materials and read the statements of those whose parishes and schools receive support.
The theme of the campaign is “See the Bounty of the Lord.” Psalm 27:13
Together in Mission provides an opportunity to show our concern for those served by the parishes and schools that need your financial support.
If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. Also, we will conduct our annual Together in Mission in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend and the following weekend. As always, what you give should be given in gratitude for what God has given to you. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.

GAY & LESBIAN MINISTRY: The Ministry with Lesbians & Gays will hold its quarterly potluck brunch next Sunday, January 27th following the 11am Mass in the garden behind the church. If you have interest in this ministry, we would love to see you there. Join us!

EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY: “Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion”
Come participate in the Blessed Sacrament community as a member of the Eucharistic Ministry.
As a part of the Liturgy of the Mass you will be serving the community of Blessed Sacrament by assisting the priests in distributing the Sacred Body and Blood of Christ to your fellow parishioners. We are looking for more Eucharistic Ministers for all the English masses, especially for the Saturday 6:00pm and Sunday 5:30pm. RESPECT LIFE SUPPORT: HELP IS NEEDED! Come to an informational meeting regarding the starting of a new crisis pregnancy counseling center in the Hollywood area. Did You Know? Seventy percent of accused abusers are deceased
Clergy sex abuse data collected by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) on compliance with the U.S. Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People was released by the U.S. bishops April 11. The CARA survey found that more than 70 percent of the incidents against minors that were reported in 2006 occurred between 1960 and 1984. The report also showed the following: 1. Sixty percent of those accused in 2006 had been named previously in other abuse cases. About 10 percent of the allegations were unsubstantiated. 2. Seventy percent of offenders identified in 2006 were deceased, had already been removed from ministry, or had already left the priesthood or religious order when the allegation was reported. 3. Money spent on child protection efforts by the Catholic Church increased 35 percent from the previous year. Read the report online at: www.usccb.org/ocyp. Un Tiempo de Reflexión
Esta semana, se les pide que lean los materiales que recibieron por correo hoy. Quienes están suscritos al periódico arquidiocesano, The Tidings, recibirán en la edición de esta semana más información acerca de la campaña. Unidos en Misión provee un apoyo económico muy importante a 35 parroquias y 48 escuelas parroquiales en nuestra Arquidiócesis. Estas parroquias y escuelas proporcionan educación, ministerios y una presencia católica para decenas de miles de personas.
Algunas veces es difícil visualizar como su contribución puede ayudar a tanta gente. Pero así es. Para ver cómo, revise los materiales y lea los testimonios de aquellos cuyas parroquias y escuelas han recibido esta ayuda. El lema de la campaña es “Vean la Bondad del Señor” (Salmo 27:13). Unidos en Misión da una oportunidad para mostrar nuestro interés por quienes reciben los servicios de las parroquias y escuelas que necesitan ayuda económica. Si usted recibió su tarjeta de compromiso en el correo, por favor llénela y envíela por correo o tráigala a la misa el próximo fin de semana. También estaremos conduciendo el proceso de solicitud en la parroquia durante todas las misas el próximo fin de semana y el fin de semana subsiguiente.
