EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRMENT: Our monthly day of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will be Friday, May 2 from 8:30am until 9:30am.

MOTHER’S DAY DONATION ENVELOPES: Are found behind the pews for your donation in honor and/or in memory of your mother. On Sunday, May 11. All envelopes will be kept at the altar for a special blessing.

MINISTRY WITH LESBIANS & GAYS: The Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Catholics is hosting a brunch potluck on Sunday April 27, following the 11am Mass. The potluck will be held in the garden area behind the church. All interested in this very active ministry are invited to join. And bring something tasty as well!

NEED HELP PAYING FOR MEDICINE? The Big Orange bus is coming to Blessed Sacrament Church on Thursday, May 1, 2008 2pm to 4pm. Be sure to know the medicines you take when you visit the bus.

SCHOOL NEWS: Welcome to Blessed Sacrament Summer School!!! Summer School will be in session from June 30th to July 30th, 2008. Time: 9:00am to 12:30pm. Day Care available from 12:30pm to 5:55pm. CARDINAL MCINTYRE FUND FOR CHARITY 2ND. COLLECTION: Today we have a 2nd collection on behalf of the Cardinal McIntyre Fund for Charity.

ATTENTION PARISHIONERS: Please use your church donation envelopes when making you contributions. Donation envelopes are mailed every two months. If you are not currently receiving donation envelopes, you might not be registered with the parish, and/or we do not have updated information in our files. Retired and hungry for spiritual growth? The Ignatian Volunteer Corps, the only national volunteer program in Los Angeles that combines service with ongoing reflection in the Ignatian Tradition, is hosting a Half-Day Retreat on Sunday, June 8, 2008, on the LMU campus. Mass will be available at noon for those who wish. The Ignatian Spirituality program begins at 1:00pm. The cost is $10. CARNIVAL 2008 - HOW TO GET INVOLVED:
– Volunteer your time: We can use your help soliciting donations, planning and installing decorations, setting up before the weekend event, preparing food, running the food, game & raffle booths etc. Whether you can spare the time to ask for donations now or you can help us for a few hours during the weekend itself we would be grateful for any time you can give.
– Contribute items: We encourage you to request donations from local businesses that you frequent, and to ask your friends and families if they can help us. You can contact me for solicitation letters.
– Come to the party and enjoy: We will send you more information thru the bulletin as the weekend draws closer but don’t forget that buying raffle tickets is one very important way that you can help defray the costs of planning the carnival to enable as much money as possible goes directly to help the school and parish. We encourage you to invite your colleagues, friends, and families to join us for the weekend. It’s more fun when you bring a crowd and it’s a greater way for prospective families to learn about the school and parish. We will be offering a limited number of discounted ride tickets when the weekend draws nearer. So be on the look out.

CARNAVAL 2008-MANERAS COMO AYUDAR:
– Hágase voluntario donando su tiempo: Podemos usar su ayuda para solicitar donaciones, para coordinar y instalar decoraciones, para arreglar las tómbolas días antes del Carnaval, preparando comida, supervisando los puestos de comida, juegos & rifas. Si usted puede usar su tiempo antes del Carnaval solictando donaciones o si piensa que puede ayudar durante los días que el Carnaval se lleva a cabo, de cualquier manera agradecemos cualquier tiempo que nos pueda dar.
– Cosas para donar: Pueden solicitar donaciones de negocios locales los cuales ustedes frequentan, pedir a sus amistades y familia si nos pueden ayudar. Llámenme para obtener las cartas de solicitud.
– Vengan a la Fiesta para divertirse: Daremos más información a través del boletín conforme se acerque la fecha, pero no se olviden que la compra de los boletos de la rifa del Carnaval es lo más importante y que eso nos ayuda a cubrir los gastos de planificación y a su vez permite que recaudemos más dinero para la escuela y la parroquia. Inviten a sus familiares y amigos para que vengan a pasar este fin de semana con nosotros. Estaremos ofreciendo un número limitado de boletos para los juegos mecánicos cuando se acerque la fecha. Estén atentos!

Sabe Usted? Conozca la Escuela de sus Niños
Los Padres y guardianes tienen las responsabilidad de proteger a sus hijos de todo daño potencial. Cuando escogen un jardín de la infancia, o un centro de cuidar niños, o una escuela, los papás deben inspeccionar bien el edificio y toda la planta para asegurarse de que no haya áreas de juego o de trabajo que les estén prohibidas a los papás. Tales instituciones deben de tener una política que invita a los papás a visitar el centro sin cita previa.
