BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH 2008 PARISH STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM
TIME- TALENT-TREASURE
FOLLOW-UP SUNDAY
This weekend we have envelopes available on the church racks, on both entrances of the church, for those who have not yet made their commitment for the Stewardship Program- Time, Talent, and Treasure Campaign.Only those who were not present last Sunday, or whoever, for some reason, did not make a commitment at that time, can do it now.
Please make a conscious effort to commit your family to financially support the work of the Lord at Blessed Sacrament Parish, and at the same time, take this opportunity to
collaborate with your Time, Talent, and Treasure in our parish by joining one of our listed ministries. We request that only one adult family member fills out the Stewardship Commitment form. If you have already made a commitment, you do not need to do it again. We also would like to encourage you that when making your donation please use your checks and/or donation envelopes.
Please deposit your commitment envelopes in the box located near the altar. It is very helpful to us to know how many members of our parish are actively involved in our ministries, and in offering their financial support.
Thank you in advance for you generosity!

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION: It’s Independence Day weekend, and we are in the middle of a series on the Eucharistic Prayer. There is a link worth tracing between the Declaration of Independence and the language of liturgy. One of the signers of the Declaration on that July 4 long ago was Charles Carroll, probably the wealthiest man in the colonies and one of the few Catholics on the political scene. As a flourish to his signature, he sought to distinguish himself from other prominent citizens bearing the same name by penning “Charles Carroll of Carrolltown”–a defiant “come and get me if you dare” postscript aimed at the British. Carroll’s brother John was a priest and patriot who in 1789 was given the task of organizing the Catholic Church in this country. By 1791 he had assembled a synod, or assembly of delegates, to launch that task formally. Archbishop Carroll wanted to gain acceptance of our faith by American people who mistrusted our customs and could not comprehend our liturgy. He made the amazing proposal to Rome that our liturgy should be prayed not in Latin, but in the vernacular, English. His wish was denied, but one hundred sixty years later, his deep desire helped the American bishops and scholars at the Second Vatican Council to win the vote in favor of the vernacular not just for the United States, but for the Church throughout the world. –Rev. –Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

18And he was speaking these things unto them, behold a certain ruler came up, and adored him, saying: Lord, my daughter is even now dead; but come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19And Jesus rising up followed him, with his disciples.
20And behold a woman who was troubled with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.
21For she said within herself: If I shall touch only his garment, I shall be healed.
22But Jesus turning and seeing her, said: Be of good heart, daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
23And when Jesus was come into the house of the ruler, and saw the minstrels and the multitude making a rout,
24He said: Give place, for the girl is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
25And when the multitude was put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand. And the maid arose.
26And the fame hereof went abroad into all that country.

4They have reigned, but not by me: they have been princes, and I knew not: of their silver, and their gold they have made idols to themselves, that they might perish.
5Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed?
6For itself also is the invention of Israel: a workman made it, and it is no god: for the calf of Samaria shall be turned to spiders’ webs.
7For they shall sow wind, and reap a whirlwind, there is no standing stalk in it, the bud shall yield no meal; and if it should yield, strangers shall eat it.
11Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin: altars are become to him unto sin.
12I shall write to him my manifold laws, which have been accounted as foreign.
13They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

32And when they were gone out, behold they brought him a dumb man, possessed with a devil.
33And after the devil was cast out, the dumb man spoke, and the multitudes wondered, saying, Never was the like seen in Israel.
34But the Pharisees said, By the prince of devils he casteth out devils.
35And Jesus went about all the cities, and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease, and every infirmity.
36And seeing the multitudes, he had compassion on them: because they were distressed, and lying like sheep that have no shepherd.
37Then he saith to his disciples, The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few.
38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.

2Their heart is divided: now they shall perish: he shall break down their idols, he shall destroy their altars.
3For now they shall say: We have no king: because we fear not the Lord: and what shall a king do to us?
12Sow for yourselves in justice, and reap in the mouth of mercy, break up your fallow ground: but the time to seek the Lord is, when he shall come that shall teach you justice.

1And having called his twelve disciples together, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of diseases, and all manner of infirmities.
2And the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,
3James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,
4Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent: commanding them, saying: Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the city of the Samaritans enter ye not.
6But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

3And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them.
4I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love: and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat.
8How shall I deal with thee, O Ephraim, shall I protect thee, O Israel? how shall I make thee as Adama, shall I set thee as Seboim? my heart is turned within me, my repentance is stirred up.

10Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat.
11And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence.
12And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house.
13And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.
14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet.

3Take with you words, and return to the Lord, and say to him: Take away all iniquity, and receive the good: and we will render the calves of our lips.
4Assyria shall not save us, we will not ride upon horses, neither will we say any more: The works of our hands are our gods, for thou wilt have mercy on the fatherless that is in thee.
5I will heal their breaches, I will love them freely: for my wrath is turned away from them.
6I will be as the dew, Israel shall spring as the lily, and his root shall shoot forth as that of Libanus.
7His branches shall spread, and his glory shall be as the olive tree: and his smell as that of Libanus.
8They shall be converted that sit under his shadow: they shall live upon wheat, and they shall blossom as a vine: his memorial shall be as the wine of Libanus.
9Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I will hear him, and I will make him flourish like a green fir tree: from me is thy fruit found.

1In the year that king Ozias died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and elevated: and his train filled the temple.
2Upon it stood the seraphims: the one had six wings, and the other had six wings: with two they covered his face, and with two they covered his feet, and with two they hew.
3And they cried one to another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of hosts, all the earth is full of his glory.
4And the lintels of the doors were moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5And I said: Woe is me, because I have held my peace; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people that hath unclean lips, and I have seen with my eyes the King the Lord of hosts.
6And one of the seraphims flew to me, and in his hand was a live coal, which he had taken with the tongs off the altar.
7And he touched my mouth, and said: Behold this hath touched thy lips, and thy iniquities shall be taken away, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

24The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above his lord.
25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the goodman of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?
26Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.
27That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.
28And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.

21Because the creature also itself shall be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
22For we know that every creature groaneth and travaileth in pain, even till now.

1The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side.
2And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore.
3And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.
4And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.
5And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.
6And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.
7And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.
8And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.
9He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?
11Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.
12For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath.
13Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.
15For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
16But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.
17For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.
18Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.
19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.
20And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy.
21Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.
22And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless.
23But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.

3And I was like a foster father to Ephraim, I carried them in my arms: and they knew not that I healed them.
4I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love: and I will be to them as one that taketh off the yoke on their jaws: and I put his meat to him that he might eat.

2Return, O Israel, to the Lord thy God: for thou hast fallen down by thy iniquity.

4Assyria shall not save us, we will not ride upon horses, neither will we say any more: The works of our hands are our gods, for thou wilt have mercy on the fatherless that is in thee.
5I will heal their breaches, I will love them freely: for my wrath is turned away from them.

26Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.
27That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come, that shall be revealed in us.
19For the expectation of the creature waiteth for the revelation of the sons of God.
20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him that made it subject, in hope:
