EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Next Friday, Oct. 3 is the 1st. Friday of the month and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 8:30am to 9:30am

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS: Enrollment is open for all those children, youth and adults seeking preparation for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation for the new school year 2008-09

Mrs. Rose Mandala, mother of our Pastor Fr. Michael J. Mandala, S.J., passed away to the Lord on Friday, September 19. Mrs. Mandala was 97 years old and is survived by her two sons: Fr. Mike and his brother James Mandala, his wife Sue and their three children.
A viewing, Rosary and Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, September 26 here at Blessed Sacrament at 6:30pm. The burial service took place at Rose Hills Cemetery in the city of Whittier on Saturday, September 27 at 10:00am
Fr. Mike and his family are requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Blessed Sacrament School.
We extend Fr. Mike and his family our most sincere sympathy for the lost of her beloved mother.

MINISTRY WITH GAY & LESBIANS: The Blessed Sacrament Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Catholics will hold a fellowship gathering and potluck this Sunday, September 28th following the 5:30 pm Mass. It will be held in the garden area behind the church. All interested in this ministry are invited to join in! Please bring your a delicious dish to share! See you there!

COLLECTOR’S GALLERIA: Time to start collecting special items: Antique pieces we don’t use and maybe have stored away in our homes: Lamps, mirrors, picture frames, china, crystal, jewelry, rosaries, statues, bibles, rare books, silverware…you name it, we want it. Scarves, pieces of crochet, afghan, needlepoint or embroidery these too are welcome! Bring all your donated articles to the rectory office marked “Collectors Galleria” – Attention: Georgia De Jesus, and Julianne Cruz . Thank you in advance for your cooperation!!

CHOIR NEWS: We are now looking for talented, enthusiastic singers and instrumentalists throughout the month of September to join the Music Ministry.  Potential music ministers must be dedicated, energetic, willing to learn, eager to experience God’s great love through music, and ready to have a great time!  Interested English-speaking parishioners may choose to participate in either the 11:00am A Cappella Choir (which rehearses on Wednesday nights from 7:30-9:30pm) or the 5:30pm Contemporary Ensemble (which rehearses on Sundays from 3:30-5:00pm).
Contact Rodger Guerrero, Director of Pastoral Music, after either mass or call him at one of the numbers listed in the bulletin.  A simple audition is required for both choirs.  Previous musical experience is helpful but not necessary.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM 2ND. COLLECTION: Today we have a 2nd. Collection on behalf of our parish Religious Education Program which provides catechetical education to our children, youth and adults seeking the sacraments and/or a deeper knowledge of their faith. Corresponding  donation envelopes are found behind the pews. Please be generous!

Did You Know? Learn to “stop” inappropriate activity before it happens
Child safety tip: Teach your child to respect the word “stop!” Teach your preschooler that “stop” means “stop,” and that your child has the right to stop people from touching his or her body. Obviously, exceptions will have to be made for doctors and parents, but even parents must listen when a child doesn’t want to be tickled or hugged anymore. 2DA COLECTA A BENEFICIO DEL MINISTERIO DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA: Hoy tenemos una Segunda Colecta Especial a beneficio de nuestro Ministerio de Educación Religiosa, el cual proporciona catequesis y educación religiosa a nuestros niños, jóvenes y adultos quienes buscan obtener los sacramentos y profundizar su fe cristiana. EXPOSICION DEL SANTISIMO SACRAMENTO: El próximo Viernes 3 de Oct.  es el Primer Viernes del mes, por lo tanto el Santísimo Sacramento estará expuesto desde las 8:30am hasta las 9:30am.

La Sra. Rose Mandala, madre de nuestro Pastor Rev. Michael J. Mandala, S.J., falleció el Viernes, 19 de Septiembre. La Sra. Mandala tenía 97 años y la sobreviven sus dos hijos: El Padre Mike y su hermano James Mandala con su esposa Sue y sus tres hijos.
El velorio, Rosario y Misa Funeral fueron celebrados el Viernes, 26 de Septiembre aquí en la Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento a las 6:30pm. El entierro se llevó a cabo el Sábado 27 de Septiembre en el cementerio Rose Hills en la ciudad de Whittier a las 10:00am.
El Padre Mike y su familia están pidiendo que en vez de flores, los parientes, amigos y feligreses hagan donaciones a nombre de la Escuela del Santísimo Sacramento (Blessed Sacrament School).
Extendemos al Padre Mike y su familia nuestras más sinceras condolencias por la pérdida de su querida madre.

NO HABRA BAUTIZOS EL DOMINGO 21 DE OCTUBRE: No tendremos bautizos el Domingo 21 Octubre por ser el Domingo del fin de semana del Carnaval.

NOTICIAS DEL CORO: Durante este mes de Septiembre estamos buscando cantantes e instrumenta listas con talento y entusiasmo para que formen parte de nuestro Ministerio de Música. Estas personas deben de ser dedicadas, llenas de energía, estar dispuestas a aprender,  ansiosas  por experimentar el amor de Dios a través de la música, y listos para pasar buenos momentos. Las personas interesadas que hablen español pueden escoger de participar en el Coro Bíblico- Misa de 9:00am (que ensaya los Sábados en la noche de 6:00 a 7:30pm), o en el Coro Hispano-Misa de 1:00pm (que ensaya los Jueves por las noche de 6:30pm a 8:00pm). Contactar a Edgar Moreno después de la Misa de las 9:00am o llamar a Rodger Guerrero, Director Pastoral de Música, a uno de los teléfonos que aparecen en el boletín. Un simple audición es requerida para ambos coros.  Previa experiencia musical ayuda pero no es requisito necesario.

MINISTERIO DE GAYS & LESBIANAS CATOLICOS: Realizará una comida de camarería el Domingo 28 de Sept. Después de la Misa de las 5:30pm. Esta reunión tendrá lugar en el patio del jardín de atrás de la Iglesia. Toda persona interesada en este ministerio está cordialmente invitada a asistir! Por favor traigan su plato favorito para compartir! Los esperamos!

BOLETOS DE RIFA DEL CARNAVAL: Ya están a la venta los Domingos después de las Misas. Necesitamos voluntarios para que nos ayuden a vender estos boletos después de las Misas en el fin de semana. Por favor contactar a Lauro / Esther  Literte para mayores detalles y también para los horarios.

Sabe Usted? Póngale el “Alto” a Actividades Inapropiadas Antes de Que Sucedan
Consejo para la seguridad: Enseñe a sus niños a respetar la palabra “alto”. Enseñe a sus hijos preescolares que “alto” significa “alto” y que sus hijos tienen el derecho de ponerles el alto a personas que tocan su cuerpo. Obviamente, excepciones tendrán que ser hechas para los médicos y los padres, pero incluso los padres deben escuchar cuando un hijo no desea ser cosquilleado o abrazado mas. Reforzando esta lección excelente da a sus niños el poder de reconocer – y poner alto – al “contacto físico inapropiado” por otros si llegara a suceder.
