SCHOOL NEWS: On Tuesday, January 20th through the 23rd, 2009, Blessed Sacrament School will be hosting a series of workshops for ALL PARENTS in our parish free of charge. Mr. Rivera’s talks will be on “Effective Practices for Students and Parents”. Don’t forget these important dates for all parents of Blessed Sacrament parish. Bring a friend. – Blessed Sacrament School is having our annual “ Catholic Schools Week” during the week of January 27th through the 29th, 2009. We want to invite all parishioners, parents and friends of Blessed Sacrament School to view the work of our students in the auditorium.

CALIFORNIA PROVINCE SOCIETY OF JESUS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION: During 2009, the California Province of the Society of Jesus will celebrate 100 years as a Province, serving the Western States of the United States. Our parish of Blessed Sacrament Church is one of many Jesuit Ministries of the California Province. The them of the Centennial Celebration is “Responding to the Call of Christ: 100 Years and Beyond”. Several programs have been scheduled throughout 2009 and throughout the Province. One of the first major events of the Centennial Celebration is the visit of Fr. General Adolfo Nicolás, SJ, to the Province. Fr. General will also visit Blessed Sacrament Church on Sunday, February 1, 2009. He will preside and preach at a Multi-lingual Mass, at 11:00 a.m. After the Mass, he will be available in the school auditorium to meet parishioners and lay apostolic partners from the various Jesuit Ministries of Sourthern California. Please mark your calendars of this very special event and please plan on attending!

Loving God, with Ignatius of Loyola we give you thanks for the abundant blessings received through your mercy and grace during this past century of the California Province.
We give thanks for Jesuits and apostolic partners who have led the way in their witness of faith and service.
We give thanks for all who have brought your Word to the world.
We give thanks for benefactors and friends who labor with us in building the reign of God.
May our hearts always be filled with gratitude as we remember this graced history.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY: The rectory office will be closed tomorrow, Monday, Jan 19 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday as usual.

HEALTH MINISTRY NEWS: The South American Lions Club has provided us with a box so that we can collect unused eye glasses. If you or someone you know have eye glasses that are not using anymore, please bring them to the rectory office. The Lions Club will donate these eye glasses to needy people who may need them. Let’s give the gift of good sight to someone who needs it ! Thank you!

VIRTUS WORKSHOP @ BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH: Saturday, February 21 @ 1:00pm School auditorium
Blessed Sacrament Church is pleased to inform you that we have now two in-house Virtus Facilitators: Pedro Marroquin, Youth Ministry Coordinator, and Salvador Callela, School teacher. Both of them will hold The Virtus Workshop-for the Protection of Children- here at Blessed Sacrament in the school auditorium on Saturday, February 21 at 1:00pm. There will be two workshops, one in English and one in Spanish. These sessions will meet the Archdiocese requirement for volunteers and employees to be Virtus trained, all participants will receive a certificate at the end of the sessions. These sessions are open for all of our Liturgical Ministers, Catechists, School faculty, staff & volunteers, Social Services staff and volunteers; and Parish Personnel. People from another parishes may also attend. Please mark you calendars and plan to attend this workshop if you have not done so in the past. Please call the rectory office to sign up, giving your complete name, phone number, ministry, and session requested. Protecting our children is of prime concern for our parish.

NOTICIAS DE LA ESCUELA: La Escuela del Santísimo Sacramento esta teniendo su “Semana Anual, de las Escuelas Católicas” del 27 al 29 de Enero de 2009, en el auditorio. Queremos invitar a nuestros parroquianos, padres y amigos de la escuela del Santísimo Sacramento para que puedan admirar el trabajo de nuestros estudiantes.
– Del 20 al 23 de enero del 2009, la escuela del Santísimo Sacramento estará ofreciendo una serie de talleres para TODOS LOS PADRES DE FAMILIA en nuestra parroquia sin costo alguno. CELEBRACIÓN CENTENARIA DE LA COMPAÑÍA DE JESÚS, PROVINCIA DE CALIFORNIA: Durante el 2009 la Compañía de Jesús de la Provincia de California celebrará sus 100 años de Provinciado, sirviendo todos los Estados de la parte Oeste de esta nación. Nuestra Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento es una de las iglesias pertenecientes a esta Provincia de California. El tema de esta Celebración Centenal es “Respondiendo al llamado de Cristo: 100 años y mas allá”. Muchos eventos han sido programados a través del 2009 en toda la Provincia. Uno de los mas grandes eventos de esta Celebración Centenaria es la visita del Superior General, Fr. Adolfo Nicolas, S.J. a esta Provincia. El Padre General visitará también esta Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento, el domingo, 1ro. de febrero del 2009. El celebrará y predicará la Santa Misa multi-lingüe a las 11 de la mañana de este día y después de la Misa, estará disponible para saludar y conocer a los parroquianos y dirigentes laicos pertenecientes a los diferentes Ministerios del Sur de California, en el Auditorio de nuestra escuela. Favor marquen sus calendarios con este evento tan especial y esperamos vernos favorecidos con su presencia!

Oración del Primer Centenario de la Provincia de California, 1909-2009.
Te damos gracias Dios de amor y misericordia, junto con nuestro Padre San Ignacio, por las abundantes bendiciones recibidas a través de tu gracia durante este primer siglo de vida de la Provincia de California.
Te damos gracias por el testimonio de los Jesuitas y colaboradores que han trabajado con generosidad en el servicio de la fe y la a promoción de la justicia durante este tiempo, por los que han proclamado tu Palabra en esta parte del mundo, y por todos los benefactores y amigos que han estado con nosotros en la construcción del Reino de Dios.
Te pedimos que nuestros corazones estén siempre llenos de gozo y de agradecimiento al recordar esta historia tan llena de tu gracia.
Te pedimos, por intercesión de San Ignacio, que proclamemos dignamente el evangelio de Jesucristo y nos entreguemos a este servicio con libertad interior para crecer cada vez más en solidaridad con los pobres.

Para llamar la atención a la existencia de este “Estado Olvidado’ de los EEUU, la Campaña Católica parea el Desarrollo Humano (CCHD) ha designado enero como el mes para la concienciación sobre la pobreza. TALLER DEL PROGRAMA VIRTUS: Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento Sábado, 21 de Febrero-1:00pm Auditorio de la escuela.
La Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento se complace en informarles que cuenta con dos personas de la parroquia quienes han sido certificadas para impartir el programa Virtus: Pedro Marroquin, Coordinador del Grupo Juvenil, y Salvador Callela, maestro de la escuela. Ambos darán el Taller del programa Virtus-para la protección de los niños-el Sábado 21 de Febrero a la 1pm en el auditorio de la escuela. Habrá dos talleres, uno en inglés y otro en español. Estos talleres cumplen con el requisito de la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles para que todos los voluntarios y empleados de la Arquidiócesis reciban este entrenamiento. Todos los participantes recibirán, al final del taller, un certificado de asistencia. Estos talleres son abiertos para nuestros Ministros de Liturgia, Catequistas, Maestros, empleados y voluntarios de la Escuela, del Centro de Servicios Sociales y el Personal de la Parroquia. Personas de otras parroquias también están invitadas a asistir. Por favor marquen sus calendarios. Este taller es sólo para las personas que aún no lo han tomado. Por favor llamar a la oficina de la rectoría para inscribirse dando su nombre completo, número de teléfono, nombre del ministerio al cual pertenecen y preferencia de taller. Proteger a los niños es una de nuestras mayores preocupaciones aquí en nuestra parroquia.

Dasal para sa Sentenaryo ng Probinsiya ng California 1909-2009
Mapagmahal na Diyos, kasama ni San Ignacio ng Loyola, nagpapasalamat kami sa maraming biyayang aming natanggap sa pamamagitan ng iyong awa at grasya nitong nakaraang siglo ng Probinsiya ng California.
Nagpasasalamat kami sa mga Heswita at mga kaagapay-apostoliko na nagturo ng daan sa pamamagitan ng kanilang pagbigay-saksi sa pananampalataya at paglilingkod.
Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat na nagsiwalat ng iyong Salita sa mundo.
Nagpapasalamat kami sa mga tagapagtaguyod at mga kaibigang nagpagod kasama namin sa pagtatag ng kaharian ng Diyos.
Mapuno nawa ang aming mga puso ng pasasalamat habang ginugunita namin itong kasaysayang puno ng biyaya.
San Ignacio, ipagpatuloy niyo pong mamagitan para sa amin upang maipahayag namin ang Magandang Balita ni Hesu Kristo, maglingkod nang may bukas-palad at makiisa sa mga dukha.
Bilang ministro ng Magandang Balita, makalikha nawa kami ni Hesus sa pamamagitan ng Simbahan ng isang pamayanan ng sangnilikha.
Mapalalim nawa ng aming gawaing apostoliko ang aming paglalaan para sa isang mahabaging pananaw ng katotohanan, katarungan at pag-ibig ni Hesus.
Madakila nawa ang aming kinabukasan, sa patnubay ng kamay ni Hesus, sa pananampalataya at katarungan.
Ang aming paglilingkud alinsunod sa pagpapakasakit, pagkamatay, at muling-pagkabuhay ni Hesus ang siya nawang maging aming tugon sa kanyang tawag.
Bilang mga Heswita at mga kaagapay-apostoliko, hinihiling namin ito sa pangalan ni Hesus.
