EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Next Friday, February 6 is the First Friday of the month. Therefore, we will have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:30am until 9:30am.

VIRTUS WORKSHOP BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH: Saturday, February 21 @ 1:00pm at School auditorium Blessed Sacrament Church is pleased to inform you that we have now two in-house Virtus Facilitators: Pedro Marroquin, Youth Ministry Coordinator, and Salvador Callela, School teacher. Both of them will hold The Virtus Workshop-for the Protection of Children- here at Blessed Sacrament in the school auditorium on Saturday, February 21 at 1:00pm. There will be two workshops, one in English and one in Spanish. These sessions will meet the Archdiocese requirement for volunteers and employees to be Virtus trained, all participants will receive a certificate at the end of the sessions. These sessions are open for all of our Liturgical Ministers, Catechists, School faculty, staff & volunteers, Social Services staff and volunteers; and Parish Personnel. People from another parishes may also attend. Please mark you calendars and plan to attend this workshop if you have not done so in the past. Please call the rectory office to sign up, giving your complete name, phone Number, ministry, and session requested. Protecting our children is of prime concern for our parish.

Cardinal Mahony is sending a letter, this week, to past contributors to the Together in Mission Campaign. If you receive this letter, please respond with a generous pledge to support the ministries, programs and services provided by the parishes and schools that receive these funds. On the weekend of February 7-8, we will provide additional information about this campaign that provides funds to 35 parishes and 48 schools that would find it difficult, in not impossible, to operate without them.
On the weekend of February 14-15 and February 21-22 we will conduct the in-pew solicitation process so that those who do not receive the mailing will have an opportunity to make their pledges.
As each parish household prayerful reflects on the amount of the pledge to be made to help these parishes and schools, please reflect on the following questions.
Do I really believe that I have a duty to help others who are in need?
Is what I give to the work of the Church enough to show how grateful I am for what God has given me?
Do I appreciate how important every contribution to Together in Mission is to the people in the subsidized parishes and schools?
Please pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you consider the above questions and give generously, according to what God has given to you.

CELEBRATION OF THE CENTENNIAL YEAR OF THE SOCIETY OF JESUS CALIFORNIA PROVINCE: During 2009, the California Province of the Society of Jesus will celebrate 100 years as a Province, serving the Western States of the United States. Our parish of Blessed Sacrament Church is one of many Jesuit Ministries of the California Province. The theme of the Centennial Celebration is “Responding to the Call of Christ: 100 Years and Beyond”. Several programs have been scheduled throughout 2009 and throughout the Province. One of the first major events of the Centennial Celebration is the visit of Fr. General Adolfo Nicolás, SJ, to the Province. Welcome Fr. General to Blessed Sacrament Church! It is a honor and joy to have you here with us. Today, Fr. General is presiding and preaching at a Multi-Lingual Mass, at 11:00am. After the Mass, he will be available in the school auditorium to meet parishioners and lay apostolic partners from the various Jesuit Ministries of Southern California. All parishioners, family and friends are welcomed and invited to this very special celebration.

Did You Know? Internet Safety for Kids
The Internet has become the new schoolyard for child molesters seeking girls or boys to victimize. Internet “chat rooms” provide a teenager with an opportunity to engage in a “live” conversation with friends from school or church, or with other teenagers from around the world. A chat room is similar to an old-style telephone party line, except that the teens are typing. Law enforcement has found that child molesters use chat rooms to gain easy and safe access to teens. Because of the seemingly caring and seductive talent of child molesters, teenagers should be warned that when they are in a chat room, they should never provide anyone with private information, personal information, and especially their specific physical location. TALLER DEL PROGRAMA VIRTUS Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento Sábado, 21 de Febrero-1:00pm Auditorio de la escuela La Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento se complace en informarles que cuenta con dos personas de la parroquia quienes han sido certificadas para impartir el programa Virtus: Pedro Marroquín, Coordinador del Grupo Juvenil, y Salvador Calle la, maestro de la escuela. Ambos darán el Taller del programa Virtus-para la protección de los niños-el Sábado 21 de Febrero a la 1pm en el auditorio de la escuela. Habrá dos talleres, uno en inglés y otro en español. Estos talleres cumplen con el requisito de la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles para que todos los voluntarios y empleados de la Arquidiócesis reciban este entrenamiento. Todos los participantes recibirán, al final del taller, un certificado de asistencia. Estos talleres son abiertos para nuestros Ministros de Liturgia, Catequistas, Maestros, empleados y voluntarios de la Escuela, del Centro de Servicios Sociales y el Personal de la Parroquia. Personas de otras parroquias también están invitadas a asistir. Por favor marquen sus calendarios. Este taller es sólo para las personas que aún no lo han tomado. Por favor llamar a la oficina de la rectoría para inscribirse dando su nombre completo, número de teléfono, nombre del ministerio al cual pertenecen y preferencia de taller. Proteger a los niños es una de nuestras mayores preocupaciones aquí en nuestra parroquia.

El Cardenal Mahony estará enviando esta semana una carta a los que han contribuido anteriormente a la Campaña de Unidos en Misión. Si usted recibe esta carta, por favor responda con una contribución generosa en apoyo a los ministerios, programas y servicios prestados por las parroquias y escuelas que reciben estos fondos. El fin de semana del 7-8 de Febrero estaremos proporcionando información adicional acerca de esta campaña que provee los fondos para 35 parroquias y 48 escuelas para las que sería muy difícil, sino imposible, operar sin dichos fondos. Los fines de semana del 14-15 y 21-22 de Febrero realizaremos la solicitud en la parroquia para que, quienes no recibieron la carta, tengan la oportunidad de prometer su contribución. Cuando cada familia reflexione en oración sobre la cantidad del compromiso económico que hará para ayudar a estas parroquias y escuelas, por favor pregúntense lo siguiente:
Creo yo realmente que tengo el deber de ayudar a los que están necesitados?
Será suficiente lo que doy para la obra de la Iglesia para mostrar todo lo agradecido que estoy por lo que Dios me ha dado?
Estoy consciente de qué tan importante es cada contribución a Unidos en Misión para la gente en las parroquias y escuelas subsidiadas?
Por favor ore para que el Espíritu Santo le guíe al reflexionar sobre las anteriores preguntas y dé generosamente como Dios le ha dado a usted.

CELEBRACIÓN DEL CENTENARIO DE LA COMPAÑÍA DE JESÚS, PROVINCIA DE CALIFORNIA – Durante el 2009 la Compañía de Jesús de la Provincia de California celebrará sus 100 años de Provinciado, sirviendo todos los Estados de la parte Oeste de esta nación. Nuestra Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento es una de las iglesias pertenecientes a esta Provincia de California. El tema de esta Celebración Centenal es “Respondiendo al llamado de Cristo: 100 años y mas allá”. Muchos eventos han sido programados a través del 2009 en toda la Provincia. Uno de los mas grandes eventos de esta Celebración Centenaria es la visita del Superior General, Fr. Adolfo Nicolás, S.J. a esta Provincia. Bienvenido Padre General a la Iglesia del Santísimo Sacramento! Es un honor y alegría el enerlo aquí con nosotros. El Padre General celebrará y predicará hoy la Santa Misa multi-lingüe a las 11 de la mañana y después de la Misa, estará disponible para saludar y conocer a los parroquianos y dirigentes laicos pertenecientes a los diferentes Ministerios del Sur de California, en el Auditorio de nuestra escuela. Todos nuestros feligreses, familiares y amigos son bienvenidos y están invitados a asistir y participar en esta celebración tan especial.

Sabe Usted? Seguridad en el Internet para los Niños
El Internet se ha convertido en el nuevo jardín de juego para los molestadores que buscan a los niños y niñas para hacerlos sus victimas. Los “cuartos de charla” del Internet proveen a los jóvenes la oportunidad de participar en conversaciones en “vivo” con grupos de la escuela o de iglesias, o con otros adolescentes alrededor del mundo. Un cuarto de charla se describe como siendo similar a una vieja línea telefónica de fiesta con la excepción de que los adolescentes están escribiendo por medio de sus computadoras. Las autoridades han encontrado que los molestadores usan los cuartos de charla como acceso fácil a los adolescentes. Debido al talento seductivo de los molestadores de niños, los adolescentes deben ser advertidos que cuando estén en un cuarto de la charla, nunca deben proveer a cualquier persona sus datos privados, información personal, y especialmente su localización física.
