- mission priests who bring the love of Jesus to the poor living in remote villages and city barrios.
- Religious Sisters and Brothers who offer the Lord’s healing compassion to refugees, the sick and orphans.
- catechists who proclaim the Gospel to the poorest of our human family, the message of the hope and peace that only Christ can give.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1: is a feast of encouragement and challenge when we rejoice with the throng of Saints (Rev. 7) who have reached that supreme fulfillment and are a loving example to us. Special Holy Day of the Church. We will have our regular schedule of Sunday Masses.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2: is a day when we especially remember our departed family and friends. As it is our custom, our parish will offer a first intention Mass each day during the month of November at 12:05 for all whose names are in the high altar. Donation envelopes are placed in the pews for your “special contributions.”

REMEMBRANCE BOOK: Our parish “Remembrance Book”, for the names of our beloved deceased, will be available near the main altar as of November 1st. Please come and write the names of your deceased family and friends in the book. We shall pray for them at all our Masses during November.

TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR SATURDAY NIGHT (NOV. 1st.) … So you will be on time for Mass and a lot of other things. Daylight Savings time is over…it’s time to “Fall Back”.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN… KEEP HALLOWEEN SAFE FOR THE CHILDREN. SAFE COSTUMES!!! SAFE TREATS!!! Silly string is prohibited in Hollywood on Halloween, according to a city law. People are encouraged to have fun on Halloween, but leave the silly string at home. It is illegal to possess, use, sell or distribute silly string from 12:00 am Oct 31 through noon on Nov 1. Violations may be subject to a $1,000 fine.

Parents of Lesbian and Gay Children Support Group: The parish is forming a support group for parents with lesbian and gay children based upon the US Catholic Bishop’s Pastoral Letter “Always Our Children”. This support group will be part of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Catholics. Parents who are interested should contact Fr. Did You Know? Keeping Kids Safe After School
You can help keep your children safe by knowing where they spend their time after school. Get to know the adults who show up at the various locations in the community where children gather and where they play together. Be wary of any adult who seems more interested in creating a relationship with a child than with other adults. Pay attention when an adult seems to single out a child for a relationship or for special attention. Warning signs include treats, gifts, vacations, or other special favors offered only to one specific child. CARNIVAL 2009
The church tower was jumping at Blessed Sacrament last weekend as we celebrated our 56th annual Carnival and International Food Festival. The Velvet Margarita served their specialties to the delight of all. Beer, soda, and wine were flowing.
Enrique Alejo, President & CEO of Liborio Markets, cooked the world’s largest Pupusa. While Latin American, Filipino, American, Indonesian and fun food also tempted our palates. Latin bands, Gospel choirs, and Rocks groups filled the night air with music. Fun was had by all.
Special thanks to Valerie Milano, our hard working carnival chair, and all the men and women, boys and girls who put in hundreds of hours to make this year’s carnival such a fantastic experience.

Sabe Usted? Mantenga Seguros a Sus Niños Después de la Escuela
Usted puede mantener a sus hijos seguros con simplemente saber en donde pasan su tiempo después de la escuela. Identifique y conozca a los adultos que aparecen en las diversas ubicaciones en la comunidad donde se reúnen los niños. Preste atención con cualquier adulto que parezca más interesado en crear una relación con un niño que con otros adultos, en particular en los adultos que parecen señalar a un niño en especial para formar una relación especial. Las señales de advertencia incluyen golosinas, regalos, vacaciones u otros favores especiales. CARNAVAL 2009
La torre de la Iglesia resonaba jubilosa el fin de semana pasado cuando celebramos el 56º aniversario de nuestro Carnaval y Festival de Comida Internacional. Velvet Margarita sirvió sus especialidades para el deleite de todos. Cerveza, sodas y vino estuvieron fluyendo.
Enrique Alejo, Presidente & CEO de los Supermercados Liborio cocinó la Pupusa más grande el mundo. Los puestos de comida Latinoamericana, Filipina, Indonés, y Americana tentaron nuestros paladares.
Las bandas de música Latina, Coro de Música Religiosa y los grupos de Rock llenaron el ambiente de buena música y todos se divirtieron.
Gracias a Valerie Milano, nuestra coordinadora del carnaval, quién trabaja arduamente junto con todos los hombres y mujeres, niños y niñas quienes pusieron muchas horas de trabajo para que este Carnaval sea una experiencia fantástica.
