Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 17. While the faithful are not obligated to attend Mass on this day, our experience is that many Catholics seek to begin the Season of Lent by receiving ashes on this day. Ashes may be distributed either during a Mass or a Liturgy of the Word Service. This year, lay persons will lead our Liturgy of the Word Services.

Aunque los fieles no están obligados asistir a Misa en este día, nuestra experiencia, es que muchos Católicos buscan comenzar la temporada de Cuaresma recibiendo las Ceniza ese día. Las Cenizas serán distribuidas durante la celebración de la Santa Misa o durante un Servicio de la Liturgia de la Palabra. Este año, personas laicas dirigirán el Servicio de la Palabra.

FAST AND ABSTINENCE: Ash Wednesday, Fridays of Lent and Good Friday are days of abstinence from meat. Fasting days are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

Cathedral English Adult Confirmation Preparation: The Cathedral Pastoral Staff will offer a six week Adult Confirmation Preparation Course. It will open to those persons who have reached their 18th birthday or are older, who are baptized in the Catholic church and have already received their first communion. Interested parties must pre-register and provide a copy of your baptismal certificate. The registration fee is $75. The classes begin 2/15/10. Nos complace comunicarles que la escuelita pre-escolar de la Parroquia del Santísimo Sacramento ya abrió sus puertas. Esta gran apertura ha sido posible, gracias a la generosidad de muchos parroquianos quienes donaron y patrocinaron la Cena de premios que realizó el Señor Cardenal el año pasado. Estamos aceptando solicitudes de matrícula en esta escuelita para niños de tres a cinco años en la que puedan aprender en un buen ambiente educacional.
