· Easter Vigil (B), April 15, 2006
· Theme: Through Baptism We Have Been Offered The Promises Of Resurrection

· We have walked with Jesus through many emotional events during this Holy Week
· On Palm Sunday - We celebrated the glorious entrance into Jerusalem, with its hint of ominous things to come.
· On Holy Thursday - The Last Supper, The institution of Eucharist, The Washing of the feet of the Disciples
· On Good Friday - the torture and death of Jesus on the cross;
· The Discouragement and Disillusionment of the Disciples, who but for a few women all deserted Jesus
· We were reminded that our God is no stranger to pain.
· We talk about Jesus as the “crucified one,” and we are reminded that our God entered our world fully with all its joys and sorrows.

· Hemos caminado con Jesús a lo largo de muchos eventos emocionales en esta Semana Santa.
· El Domingo de Ramos – celebramos la entrada gloriosa de Jesús a Jerusalén – con una ojeada hacia su sufrimiento.
· El Jueves Santo – La Ultima Cena, la institución de la Eucaristía, el lavado de los pies de los discípulos

· We arrive at this Easter Celebration as did the Disciples:
· Exalting, yet confused
· Joyous, yet wondering what it all means

· What happened at the Resurrection of Jesus?
· None of us exactly knows all of the historical details.
· What we do know is that all of those terrified disciples were transformed:
· Those who had panicked and fled, came back, and were on fire to proclaim the Good News;
· Cowards became Heroes;
· Many of them even suffered their own martyr’s death for proclaiming what they had found in Jesus.

· Llegamos a esta Celebración Pascual, como llegaron los discípulos:
· Entusiasmados y al mismo tiempo confundidos
· Alegres, pero preguntando de lo que significa lo que hemos experimentado

· We share in this Victory of Jesus through our Baptism:
· As St. Paul Says, Through Baptism we have died with Christ,
· Through Baptism, we live with the Risen Christ.

· Como dice San Pablo – por el Bautismo hemos muerto con Cristo.
· Por el Bautismos, vivimos con Cristo Resucitado.

· Our Baptism makes us brothers and sister of the Risen Lord, and
· In addition, our Baptism makes us brothers and sisters to one another in Jesus
· Many Made One Around The Table Of The Lord

· Nuestro Bautismo nos hace hermanos y hermanas del Señor Resucitado.
· Además, Nuestro Bautismo nos hace hermanos y hermanas unos a otros en Jesús.
· Muchos se hacen uno solo alrededor de la mesa del Señor.

· Today we will welcome 12 new members into our church community
· These brothers and sisters are a sign to us of what we celebrate, that:
· Jesus has transformed our lives.
· And, because of the victory of Jesus,
· Neither do we fear death,
· Nor the suffering that we may experience in life.

· Hoy recibiremos doce nuevos miembros en Nuestra Comunidad de la Iglesia.
· Estos hermanos y hermanas son una señal de lo que celebramos:
· Que Jesús nos ha transformado la vida
· Y, por medio de la victoria de Jesús
· No tenemos miedo ni de la muerte
· Ni de los sufrimientos que experimentamos en la vida.

· We Baptized,
· Need to LIVE OUT our commitment to Christ daily, if we are to become the Christians that we profess to be.

· We are not alone in our efforts:
· We profess that Jesus has conquered sin and death
· We open our hearts and ask that Jesus conquer the sin and death that exists in each of us and in our world today.

· Nosotros, Los Bautizados
· Tenemos que Vivir diariamente lo que Profesamos.

· No estamos solos en esta meta
· Sabemos que Jesús ha vencido el pecado y la muerte
· Por eso abrimos los corazones y pedimos que Jesús venza el pecado y la muerte que existen en cada uno de nosotros y en nuestro mundo de hoy.
