RE: 3 month schedule

I hope everyone is well and ready for the next quarterly schedule. The liturgy committee is trying to organize a retreat day for us here at Blessed Sacrament. More information on the schedule will be presented at a later date.

If you purchased a workbook and haven’t picked it up, please drop into the rectory. We have had a few parishioners that have joined our ministry. Please welcome Julianne & Amy. Also I would like to thank Rocco for taking on the role from Neita Varona in training new lectors. We could arrange another training course for all established Lectors if need be (please contact Rocco). We will be discussing some changes that may be up and coming one day soon.

I would also like to know if any of you have any changes in email addresses you would like to put on the roster. This would cut costs on mailing and I would be able to email you the schedules and other attachments. Please email me with your email address if you haven’t already done so.

I have been told recently there are quite a few Lectors who are consistently tardy for their assignments as well as those few, who at times, have dressed inappropriately. Please let me know if you know who these people might be. All lectors should be present in the sacristy at least fifteen minutes before the start of any Mass at which they read, and each Lector should dress with decorum.

As usual, it is your responsibility to find a replacement for yourself if you cannot read at the Mass for which you are scheduled. You will see enclosed, a Lector Availability list displaying the Masses for which the readers are available. And as always, if you move, change your phone number or have an availability change, please let me know as soon as possible so that it can reflected it on the next schedule.

          I hope everyone is well and ready for the next schedule.   Happy Holidays! 

          As usual, I would like to know if any of you have any changes in mass availabilities, email, and phone or address changes you would like to put on the roster.    Please email me with your email address if you haven’t already done so.

If you haven’t placed an order already, we are requesting that all lectors purchase the new Liturgy Training Publications workbook for Lectors and Gospel readers. The cost is $13. Of course, missals are available at the Rectory office for $4, but this workbook is the Proclaimers best friend. The workbook can be purchased by phone at 800-933-1800 or by fax at 800-933-7094. Better yet, contact me. We can obtain a discount if we purchase five or more books.

If you have not already done so, please welcome our new lector members with whom Neita Varona had been meeting Max Pierce, Jerry Trahan, Rosemary Cabanas and returning Ivy Mooney. A huge thank you to Neita for her continuing training.

I would like to thank Meghan Edmonds who has recently moved away. She has been an asset to this ministry but will be back to help out with Carnival. She has been a long time supporter & carnival volunteer as well as Proclaimer of the Epistles. When you see her during carnival weekend, please thank her for her past commitment. We thank her for both her time and love for the Blessed Sacrament community.

As you are aware, our parish carnival is right around the corner, starting October 19th-21st. As you are also aware, I have been chairing this fundraiser for many years. If you haven’t contacted me to become involved, please do so. I can surely use your help and support. I am still looking for many able bodies to man booths (esp. the Hamburger booth which is being organized by the English and Spanish Lectors). Please read the bulletin for many other ways in which you can become involved.

As always, it is your responsibility to find a replacement for yourself if you are unable to read at your scheduled Mass. You will see enclosed, a Lector availability list displaying the Masses for which the readers are available. And as always, if you relocate, change your telephone number or if your scheduled Masses are no longer compatible for you, please inform me as soon as you are able so that the requested changes can be reflected on the next listings.

We are asking each of you to try to attend the anniversary mass which will now begin at 11:30 a.m. instead of previously reported @ noon. We will meet outside the Sunset entrance to the Church for rehearsal @ 10:45 a.m. instead of 11:45 and process in as a group with all the other Lay Ministries of our Parish.

I will need 2-3 Lectors only for this procession and 1 or 2 of you will carry our banner. I think that JW has agreed to be one of the Lectors in the procession. You are then welcome to sit with your family or in reserved pews at the front after the procession.

After mass there will be a ministry fair in the auditorium. I am asking 2 things of you:
- a donation for food for the fair (each ministry is asked to help with this - $5 would be nice) you could leave it at the rectory with my name on it.
- if you are available to help work our Lector table for a bit, that would be great. Email me back with whatever time you can give and I will instruct you.
